Only stuff that fits has earned the right to be in a drawer or hung in the closet! I just went through the worst of this (and its ongoing).įor sizes you are saving until they grow into it-Get some of those clear ziplock zipper bags here If I have to rewear a shirt, or buy a sweater wherever I am, so be it. I always make sure at the least I have enough underclothes (bras & undies) and then worry about the rest afterwords. Remember that in most cases (these days) pretty much anywhere you go you will have access to some type of store that will have at the least minimum necessities and at most anything you can think of (I saw you were going to be in US and it is hard to find a city here without a Walmart or Target where you can buy anything from clothes to toiletries, and extra bag etc).Plan on wearing each item as much as possible and pack items that don't soil or show dirt as easily Remember that in Cold weather your clothes can usually be reworn (ie jeans/pants, sweaters etc) without washing each time.If you will have access to doing laundry where you will be, take that into consideration to (ie how often will you be able to access those facilities or how often will your budget allow for use of the laundry) Once you have figured that out, pack ONLY what you will need between washes (so if you can do laundry once per week, bring 1 weeks worth of clothes).Wear your thickest/bulkiest/heaviest items on the plane/during travel (to allow yourself as much room in your bag as possible).
Bring maybe a week's worth, and buy more when you get to your destination, that way you are carrying the minimum amount. I'm not sure what your situation is going to be (ie where you will be staying etc) but if there will be stores in the area you are travelling to (in other words you aren't camping in the wilderness) - Pack a minimum amt of toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo, etc).Just make sure you get the kind that you Roll to get the air out (not the kind that require a vaccum) You can also try using space bags You can usually find these at Walmart, Target etc (in either the travel section or the housewares/closet organizing section.Try rolling your clothes instead of folding - you will be able to fit SO much more (there are tons of Youtube vids on that).Photos by Molly Lo Photography for The Pioneer Woman.UnderArmor and Thermals are a great idea because they are thin (will take up less space) and will keep you warm. Just sharing random things we try and love! Where do you fit in on the space bag addiction continuum? Inquiring minds want to know… So whether you’re moving or storing, the bags are ultra-protective.įinal thoughts: If there are things that need to be stored in a safe place, these bags will give you some peace of mind! And when it comes to bulky, space-robbing items, these will definitely help.ĭo you use these vacuum storage bags? We have some friends that are borderline addicted to organizing their off-season clothes and bulky linens this way.
Not to mention-and this is important-it completely seals the items safely and keeps mold, mildew, weird odors, and bugs away. However, the bag does compress whatever’s inside about as much as it can be compressed, and it is a very handy, organized way to store clothes or linens you’re not going to want to access for awhile. Yoga pants are denser and not fluffy at all, so you don’t really see that squishing effect. We would have gotten much more dramatic effects from a comforter or stack of pillows, which would have gotten dramatically thinner.
This was probably not the best example! Haha.
